Finish time for Avonhead

There seems to be some misinformation amongst children as to whether they have to come to school on Friday. The purpose of this note is to clarify the situation for you, particularly as the final assembly is on Thursday.

School is open on Friday until 12.30pm. We are expecting children up until this time BUT if parents or caregivers feel that it would be good if their children finished on Thursday at 3pm after the assembly, we are Okay with this BUT you must either let the child’s teacher/s or the office know your child is not coming to school on Friday. If we don’t hear from you we will ring you to find out where your children are.

CLASS PLACEMENTS LETTER

We are making some adjustments to the classes each day as we learn of new children coming and going. It is important that we start each class off with as few a children as possible and we don't get that opportunity when we publish the lists. For this reason, we will send a letter home to parents tomorrow and not today as previously advertised. Apologies for any inconvenience.

All parents and teachers are welcome.

Carina Voges from Train the Brain will come to talk with us about gifted children who have a learning “challenge”. Carina has a special interest in twice exceptional children. Concern for our community?

I have just been advised by email that a drive-in bottle store is proposed for the site of the old garage at the end of Avonhead. This alert was sent by a member of the community.

The writer has told me the the hearing for submission s with the City Council is 12th July. Written submissions have to be received by the 11th July. If you have any submissions, please contact 'City Council Licensing team, PO Box 73-103, Christchurch 8154

Given that we are are a short distance away from the place; a pre-school is across the road and the bedlam that will be created with motorists wanting to weave themselves through the already busy traffic on Avonhead Road to get in and out of the place, I think we should object to this venture. We already have a liquor store at Coach corner. We don't need any more! I urge you to exercise your right to object if you feel strongly enough.
